What is floor insulation?
Up to 15% of your home’s heat is lost through the floor. Floor insulation is the process of installing insulating material underneath the floorboards to prevent heat loss in your home.
The most common materials used for floor insulation are mineral wool, polystyrene boards, and foam insulation.
Underfloor insulation can be good for houses with basements or cellars but can benefit most homes and help maintain a consistent temperature and reduce heating bills.

Do I qualify for underfloor insulation?
The UK government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) scheme offers free floor insulation to eligible households. To qualify, you must be a homeowner or private tenant, and either receive certain benefits such as Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit or Universal Credit, or have a household income below a certain threshold. Additionally, your property must meet certain criteria, such as having a suspended timber floor and having an accessible underfloor space

How much funding can I get towards floor insulation?
If you are eligible for the government grant you could receive funding for 100% of the work on your home. Underfloor insulation can cost between £1,000 and £3,000, depending on how big your home is. The ECO4 scheme means you can benefit with no additional fees to pay.
